Then astonishment seized them all and they glorified God, and struck with awe, they said, “We have seen incredible things today.” Luke 5:26

Dear Saint Robert Community,

In eight days we will be taking a break from school and celebrating the birth of Jesus in many different ways.  Christmas Eve Family/Children’s Mass will begin at 4:30pm.  There is quite a lot going on in those few short days.  A couple classes have field trips, there will be all sorts of creativity going on such as gingerbread houses and we have our Christmas KidStock and Band performances tomorrow night. Enjoy!

This past week we had some very special events take place. St. Nicholas magically appeared to our First Graders.  Well, actually, they did not see him, but he did ring his musical bells and leave candy in all of their shoes.  It was definitely an exciting treat!

8th grade has been reading a novel called A Single Bead.  This book was incredibly powerful, with a theme centered on the power of prayer.  On Thursday, we were able to Skype with the author, Stephanie Engleman.  What a great experience!

Also on Thursday, our Junior High Math students were very excited to experience the magic of math from our special guest presenter, Sunil Singh. Mr Singh is the author of Pi of Life: The Hidden Happiness of Mathematics and an Ambassador for The Global Math Project. “The goal of The Global Math Project is to bring joyous mathematics that is unifying across all cultures and customs to everyone!” Ms. Bartolotti was honored to invite him to join us during his brief stay here in California.  Ask your children about how exploding dots work and feel free to check out the website

Thursday evening our Choir sang at the San Bruno Park and Rec. annual tree lighting. It was a great deal of fun.  Friday we had an absolutely beautiful mass, in honor of the Immaculate Conception of Mary.  4th grade did an amazing job preparing the mass.  Our choir and soloists sang angelically.  Many thanks to Ms. Bartolotti, Mrs. Doyle,  Mrs. Devlin and Father Greene for making the morning so very special. Saturday was our annual Breakfast with Santa event, everyone enjoyed themselves.  Thanks to all of Santa’s Elves for a great morning.

Congratulations to all of our Spell aThon Winners.  Thank you for participating in this educational, and enjoyable fundraiser.  Kindergarten and First Grade both won extra recess and ice cream parties.  The numbers are so close (Kinder pledged $5253 and turned in $5133 with $120 owed. Second pledged $5249 and turned in $5019 with $230 owed.) Amazing!  Third grade also wins ice cream and extra recess for the highest percentage of correctly spelled words at 99.44%!  Then of course, many individuals won a variety of awesome prizes, including gift cards, Giants tickets, Zoo tickets and the grand prize of a new iPad.  All prizes were announced at the assembly last Friday as well as over announcements on Monday morning. Obviously, not all monies are in, but we can safely say we brought in over $20,000.  This money is earmarked for iPads and MacBooks, which for a school this size is a constant need for the contemporary education of our children.  Thank you so very much!

Please be sure to check out the important dates below for information on all the upcoming events.

God Bless You and Your Families,
Mrs. Wright

P.S.  Thank you to our First Graders, who have adopted two families in need this Christmas. It is in giving that you receive!
